Target stores across South Carolina supported ROR sites with grants totaling over $17,000! We are very grateful for the relationships that Target stores are forming with their local ROR sites, and we look forward to working together more in 2006. Thank you, Target!


Recently, Senator Kevin Bryant of Anderson, SC visited the An Med Child Health Center Reach Out and Read site. Senator Bryant took time out to read with several children in the waiting room then took a site tour of An Med. This was a great opportunity for Dr. Charowski, An Med's Medical Director, to share with Senator Bryant the difference the ROR program has made in this clinic. The ROR program has been active at An Med for over five years.


Reach Out and Read-SC thanks CVS for their generous contribution of $4,000 to support the emergency book fund for the SC Coalition. These funds will be essential in meeting the sustainability needs of ROR sites in South Carolina, and we are very grateful for their support – we look forward to working with CVS as the coalition continues to grow in communities across South Carolina.
Thank you to the USC Women’s Athletics for their continued support of ROR! On February 24, the Women’s Basketball team held a book drive at their game to support the ROR program. This is the third time that Women’s Athletics has support ROR with a book drive, THANK YOU for your continued support!
On January 20, 2005 ROR Champions from across the State joined Legislators at the State House to increase awareness about the ROR program in South Carolina.
Legislators joined ROR Champions at our second annual Legislative Breakfast, hosted by Senator Joel Lourie, to learn more about ROR and the efforts of ROR sites across the State. Thank you to all Champions and Legislators for their time and dedication to pediatric literacy!
On January 20, members of the Barnum and Bailey Circus joined ROR and the Palmetto Health Children’s Hospital to celebrate books and share their favorite books with children at the Children’s Hospital. The clown read with children and shared their best tricks, making everyone in attendance smile. The circus also donated books to the ROR program. Thank you, Barnum and Bailey, for your support of ROR and pediatric literacy!

In December 2004, members of the Verizon Foundation presented the ROR-SC Coalition with a check for $17,750 to help support the expansion of ROR into more rural communities in the State in 2005. Verizon is a national partner of the ROR program, and we are grateful for their support of the program in South Carolina. We look forward to working closely with the Verizon Foundation in 2005 as we support current ROR sites and expand to reach more children in rural areas of South Carolina. Usborne Books held a two-day book fair to benefit the ROR program in December 2005. The fair yielded over $900 of books for ROR program across South Carolina. Thank you, Usborne for your continued support of ROR!
